Land Acknowledgement Statement

We respectfully acknowledge that we work and live on the ancestral, unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Beothuk (bee-oth-uck), Mi’kmaq (meeg mah), Passamaquoddy (pa-suh-maa-kwuh-dee), and Wolastoqiyik (wool-las-two-wi-ig) and that today the soil, minerals, air and water that make up these lands are home to diverse populations of plants, wildlife, and indigenous and non-indigenous peoples. We acknowledge that this territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, an accord which represents an ongoing relationship between nations and not the surrender of land, resources, or title to the Crown. We, as a professional body, acknowledge and are committed to our role in healing and reconciliation between nations.
