National Capital Commission – Job Opportunity for Student

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT STUDENT
The Landscape Architecture & Industrial Design Division of the Capital
Planning Branch is looking for a Landscape Architect Student for a 4 month
contract starting May 4th, 2020 until August 28th, 2020. The salary scale for
the position is $16.49 to $24.77 per hour. The closing date is February 28th
2020.

ABOUT US
The National Capital Commission (NCC) is the federal Crown Corporation

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
· Completion of a first (1st) year in an
accredited baccalaureate level in a Landscape Architecture program or
completion of a first (1st) year in the Masters’ of Landscape Architecture
program;
· Must possess a valid drivers’ license
(Ontario: Class G, Québec: Class 5) and provide a satisfactory driver’s
abstract;
· Must be returning to full-time studies in the
fall of 2020; and
· Experience with AutoCAD is essential.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE
AND ABILITIES

· Experience with Adobe Design Creative Suite 6
(Illustrator, In Design, Photoshop);
· Knowledge of landscape architectural design
principles, methods and practices;
· Ability to work individually and in a team
environment;
· Ability to meet tight deadlines; and
· Ability to be creative and innovative.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OF EMPLOYMENT

· Must be willing to work outdoors.
· Must possess a pair of protective footwear
approved by the Canadian Standards Association;  and
· Must obtain a reliability clearance.

ASSET
· Fluently bilingual in both official languages.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Project Manager, Landscape Architect, the Landscape Architect
Student’s duties will include:
· Site investigation and analysis;
· Preparation of conceptual and presentation
drawings;
· Preparation of contract documents for various
design and construction projects;
· Product and design research;
· Updating NCC standard details; and
· Construction supervision.
