ATLANTIC LANDSCAPE LACF DALHOUSIE SCHOLARSHIP

Announcement

APALA and our partner organizations are pleased to award the Atlantic Landscape LACF Dalhousie Scholarship. A scholarship of $1000 will be presented to a student of the Dalhousie Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Architecture program intending to take-up work in landscape architecture technology in the Atlantic region.

This award celebrates the establishment of the Bachelor of Technology program at Dalhousie University. It is intended to strengthen the profession of landscape architecture and the landscape industry in Atlantic Canada; to support students in the Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Architecture program at the Dalhousie University; and to foster technological competency in the landscape profession and industry.

Scholarship Partnership

The scholarship is a collaborative effort of APALA, Landscape Nova Scotia, Landscape New Brunswick & Landscape Prince Edward Island, Landscape Newfoundland and Labrador, the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, and the Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to a student of Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Architecture program. The successful applicant will demonstrate a high probability of successfully taking up work in landscape technology in the Atlantic region, as indicated by their:

  • Academic performance;

  • Understanding of professional responsibilities and ethics as indicated by faculty reference;

  • Statement of intention to work in the Atlantic region;

  • Involvement in extracurricular activities related to the practice of landscape technology;

  • Relevant academic, work or extracurricular experience related to the program of study; and

  • Ties to the region (academic study, family connections, or residence).

Application Procedure

To apply, please provide:

  • A letter outlining how you meet the above award criteria,

  • Curriculum vitae,

  • University transcript for prior year(s) of study in landscape architecture,

  • Contact information, and

  • One letter of recommendation from a member of the landscape architecture faculty in which the applicant is enrolled (this is to be sent under separate cover directly from the faculty member to APALA).

All application materials must be received no later than September 30th each year.

Award

The award will be presented to the successful applicant at the APALA annual general meeting held each Fall.
