APALA – Call for Volunteers

The APALA Board is looking
for volunteers to fill the following positions. We are looking for passionate
Atlantic Canadian landscape architects interested in growing and supporting the
profession and its members.

Expectations and
Responsibilities

The Board meets once per month via teleconference and once per year at the AGM
(usually held in Truro, NS). Attendance at these meetings is expected in
addition to the position-specific requirements listed below.

Available Positions

President Elect
The position of President-Elect is a six (6) year commitment to the APALA
Board. The first 2 years are served as President-Elect, where the applicant
will be expected to attend monthly meetings and fulfill the duties of the
President in the current President’s absence. The next
2 years are served as President, where the applicant will be expected to
call and preside at all business meetings of the Association and of the Board,
including the AGM, and to represent APALA annually at the CSLA Congress. The final 2 years are served as Past
President, where the applicant will be expected to serve as Board member and
also as the APALA Representative on the CSLA Board of Governors. Anticipated
level of commitment is 4-6 hours per month, with responsibilities increasing
once the individual takes on the role of President and the representative on
the CSLA Board of Governors.

Secretary-Treasurer
The position of Secretary-Treasurer is a three (3) year commitment to the APALA
Board. The Secretary-Treasurer is the custodian of the seal of the Association
and of all books, papers, records, correspondence, contracts, and other
documents belonging to the Association. The Secretary-Treasurer is responsible
for keeping full and accurate accounts of all receipts and disbursements of the
Association in proper books of account and shall deposit all monies or other
effects in the name and to the credit of the Association. They shall disburse
the funds of the Association under the direction of the Board and shall render
to the Board an account of all transactions and the financial position of the
Association. The Secretary-Treasurer is also responsible for presenting the
Association’s annual budget to members at the AGM.

Associate Member
Representative

Any current Associate Member may apply for this position. There is no minimum
or maximum term of commitment.
